We had two fertile Great Billed Parrot eggs from one of our breeding pairs this season. Unfortunately, the first chick was unable to hatch after struggling to break through the unusually thick shell, and by the time we realized it needed assistance, it was too late.
The second egg tested us in every possible way. What followed was an intense assisted hatch lasting over 40 hours, with challenge after challenge along the way. Against all odds, this little fighter pulled through.
We’re incredibly happy to share that our little “Miracle” is now thriving. Welcome to the world, little one we’re all rooting for you! 
Any Great Billed babies we hatch will stay in our conservation program. These extremely sensitive and rare birds should be in breeding programs and not sold to the public at this time. To do so is unethical and irresponsible. We will always put the birds first.
